Our camper vans are very well maintained, most of them are new or nearly new and are presented to you clean and completely ready to go. The basic rental rates include

All internal equipment such as crockery, cutlery, cooking pots etc.
Pick Up and Drop Off Times
All hires begin at 2pm on the first day of hire and are to be returned by 11am on the final day.
After Hours Pick Up or Drop Off
All out of hours collection and return requirements will be by pre-arrangement and will incur a £75 surcharge (no VAT) each to cover our extra staffing costs. Our normal opening hours are 8.00am - 5.00pm Monday - Saturday.
Additional Drivers
Additional Drivers : Free 2nd driver, thereafter £ 4.25 + vat per day
Insurance Excess
For travel within the UK 1000 per event. Damage to areas above cab height caused by striking an overhead object is classed as negligent and is subject to an excess of up to £2000 per claim.
Transfers
Bus transfers to our Essex depot from Heathrow or City will cost £95 per party + VAT for a maximum of 7 persons. LGW or Stansted = £ 85 + vat, max of 7 persons. All transfers must be pre-booked. Transfers from Glasgow, Edinburgh and Prestwick cost £70.00 per party. For specific collection / delivery requirements a charge of £2 per mile will be applied .. Estimated from collection depot location.
One Way Hires
All one-way requirements will be charged at 75p per mile calculated from our Essex depot. We are unable to deliver or collect campers in London under any circumstances. One way requirements between Scotland and Essex depots cost £400 + vat.
Chariots LTD TERMS & CONDITIONS OF BUSINESS
Drivers – Vehicles are right hand drive with manual transmission. There is no restriction on number of persons who may drive provided they meet the criteria below. 2 drivers are included in hire rates shown additional drivers cost £ 4.25 + vat per day.
DRIVER QUALIFICATIONS – These are mandatory for all potential drivers.
1. Age. Drivers must be between the age of 25 & 70. Consideration will be given to drivers outside this age band provided we are consulted in advance and we are able to obtain cover from our insurers. An additional premium may be required in advance.
2. Drivers licence. We require the production, at the start of the hire, of a current, full, domestic licence.
3. At least 3 years driving experience.
4. Satisfactory completion of our insurance questionnaire at the start of the hire covering medical history, driving convictions, insurance refusals or loading and driving convictions. If you are in any doubt as to an ability to comply with insurers requirements contact us in advance with full details.
PLEASE NOTE: No refund will be allowable if at the start of the hire there are no drivers in the party that can comply with all the above conditions.
LIMITED LIABILITY INSURANCE(LLI) / EXCESS
Our hire fee includes vehicle insurance, for British mainland travel only. The (LLI) limits the EXCESS liability in the event of accidental damage of the vehicle to a non-waivable £ 1000 per claim. It however will not limit liability in the case of damage above cab height and roof damage caused by striking an overhead object is classed as negligent and is subject to an excess of up to £2000 per claim.
**** TAKE NOTE **** DAMAGE TO WINDOWS AND TYRES ARE THE HIRERS LIABILITY AND INTERNAL DAMAGE WILL BE CHARGED FOR.
DAMAGE DEPOSIT BOND
A damage deposit of £1,000.00 is required at the start of the hire to cover any damages or expenses against the vehicle not covered by insurance. This deposit must take the form of cash, signed travellers cheques or an authorised credit card slip. This deposit is fully refunded on the return of the vehicle in satisfactory condition. All clients travelling from mainland Britain to Europe must have adequate Personal Accident Insurance at the start of the hire to cover the full period abroad. Evidence of such will be required before the hire can commence.
EUROPEAN RECOVERY INSURANCE (ERI) - ERI is mandatory for all vehicles during the period they will be travelling outside mainland Britain. This provides a bail bond for Spain, Green Card and for the supply of a replacement vehicle or the repatriation to our depot of the passengers in the event of mechanical malfunction or accident. The supply of a replacement vehicle is subject to availability. In case of accident a further ERI premium is required; whoever is responsible for the accident. ERI is charged at the rate of £140.00 for the first 2 weeks and at the rate of £40.00 per week thereafter. ERI is required in mainland Europe, Eire, Northern Ireland and all offshore islands. The rates above only cover countries in the European Community, Scandinavia, Switzerland and Austria. Please advise in good time if you intend to visit Eastern European countries or North Africa.
BREAKDOWN OR MALFUNCTION of – Chariots will Authorise refunds of up to £100.00 without prior authority for necessary repairs provided a valid receipt, and wherever possible the faulty parts, are produced. Minor running repairs such as tyres, bulbs, oil and radio aerials are the responsibility of the hirer. (Chariots are not responsible for additional charges arising from breakdown or accident and our liability is limited to the replacement of the vehicle (subject to availability) or refund of hire charges for any days lost due to vehicle malfunction). All decisions regarding refunds are at the sole discretion of Chariots. The hirers attention is drawn to the need for engine fluid levels to be checked on a daily basis and the vehicle to be used in the manner for which it is intended.
PAYMENT
An initial non refundable deposit will be secured at the time of booking confirmation. Accepted credit cards are Visa and Mastercard. The remaining balance payable will be taken directly by the Supplier and must be paid six weeks (42 days) prior to the start of the hire or at the time of booking if this is closer to the pick up date. If the balance is not paid when due, the Supplier reserves the right to cancel the booking and the deposit is forfeited.
PAYMENT METHOD
Accepted credit cards include Visa and Mastercard.
CANCELLATION OR NO SHOW
The initial deposit paid is non-refundable. In addition to forfeiting your deposit, the following charges also apply:
59-45 days before the start of the hire = loss of another £200
45-28 days before the start of the hire = 20% + vat of rental.
28-14 days before the start of the hire = 30% + vat of rental.
14 days or less = 100% of rental.
Late returns that have not been pre-arranged will be charged at a minimum of £125+ VAT per day or part thereof.
NO SHOW
No-shows will forfeit the whole hire fee.
Travel insurance
We strongly recommend that clients ensure they take out the highest level of travel insurance. In many cases this will cover any losses incurred if you are forced to cancel your booking.
VEHICLE COLLECTION & RETURN
If a hirer fails to arrive on the day on which the hire commences and the booking is paid for, Chariots will not allow the rental to be extended unless the vehicle is available. In the event of extension the appropriate daily rate will be added to the hire fee. The onus is on the hirer to advise us if there is to be a delay on collection, delays of over 48 hours may result in the vehicle being re-let in which case Chariots will accept no liability for any inconvenience caused. Late returns cannot be considered unless Chariots has been advised of, and agreed a delay or an extension. It is also subject to the practicality of the payment of the extended hire period before it commences. Failure to advise will invalidate insurance and may result in criminal prosecution of the driver. Agreed late returns are charged at the appropriate daily rate.
LATE RETURNS
Late returns that have not been agreed will be charged at £125.00 per day, or part thereof.
DEFINITION OF START & COMPLETION OF HIRE
All hires start at 14:00 hours on the day the hire commences and all returns are to be completed by 11:00 hours. We can sometimes alter these times, by prior agreement.
AFTER HOURS PICK UP AND RETURN
All out of hours collection and return requirements are by pre-arrangement only and will incur a £75 surcharge (no VAT) each to cover our extra staffing costs.
RETURN PROCEDURE
At the conclusion of the hire the vehicle will be checked in and any damage, not present at the start of the hire, will be noted, the hirer will be asked to sign a form stating that no accidents have taken place, involving the hire vehicle, during the period on hire. All hirers are asked to return vehicles in a clean and tidy condition as failure to do so may incur an additional charge for cleaning. Failure to empty waste from the toilet cassette will incur of an additional charge of £40.00.
DELAYS at the START of the HIRE
Chariots will endeavour to ensure all hires commence at the agreed time. Certain circumstances may prevent this taking place and Chariots admits no liability in this connection except to the limit of refund of hire hours or days lost.
AVAILABILITY
Chariots Motorhome Hire reserves the rights to offer alternative models with equivalent or similar specifications to those advertised or booked.
VALUE ADDED TAX
All prices shown, are inclusive of VAT at the rate prevailing, currently 20%.
GENERAL CONDITIONS
No servant or agent of the Company has the right to vary these conditions and no representative, other employee or agent is authorised to commit the Company to any liability whatsoever. The Company will not be responsible for any statement or representation unless signed by a duly authorised member of staff. All figures in our brochure and details of vehicles are given to assist with general information and do not form part of any binding contract. Hirers should advise if they intent to travel to areas of extreme cold as it is possible the gas, water and diesel fuel may freeze.
OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU
All payments are held in our trust account and are safeguarded in the event of the Company ceasing to trade. Your funds, except for booking deposits, will not be transferred to our account until the hire commences; when you will be asked to sign a certificate of authorisation. We maintain all vehicles to the highest standard but recognise that mechanical failure may occur. Every vehicle is covered by breakdown insurance and we will do our utmost to resolve and problems that may arise. Should the vehicle fall short of the standard you require please inform us immediately and we will take whatever steps are necessary to resolve the problem. Our fleet consists of several different types in each class and our website is only intended to illustrate the general layout, it may vary from type to type and our brochure/website does not form the basis of a contract. Every vehicle will have the equipment stated however.
Our fuel policy is for the vehicle to leave our pick up location with a full fuel tank of diesel and be returned with a full tank. If the vehicle is not returned, a charge of £2.00 per litre will be charged.

The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier’s rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.
While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.
Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice. The deposit required to secure your vehicle (as shown on the secure booking page) will only be processed on your credit card when your booking is confirmed. Please note that a 1.75% credit card charge will be added when your payment is processed.
A booking is confirmed when you have been emailed a confirmation voucher and at this stage the deposit is processed on your card and becomes non-refundable and any cancellation fees stated in the supplier's terms apply. Upon receipt of your confirmation, please check your details carefully and notify us immediately if there are any incorrect details, as it may not be possible to make changes at a later date.
If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.
Information disclosure
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.
Amendments
Please note that some suppliers treat an amendment as a new booking and apply the rate current at the time the amendment is made to recalculate the entire booking amount (not just the days changed). If the rental period is increased, an additional deposit may be required. If the rental period is shortened which results in a reduction of the rental charges, the deposit amount will remain unchanged, and the difference between the original and revised deposit is forfeited (it cannot be used towards remaining rental charges). To request a change to a confirmed booking, please use the alterations request link on your confirmation. Any alterations are subject to availability and the approval of the supplier. In addition to the alteration policy of the supplier stated in their terms, the following charges will apply:
Motorhome rental alterations (all charges stated in local currency):
To change dates or times that result in a recalculation of rental rates, or to change vehicles or locations: 75.00
To add or remove extras to/from confirmed booking: 20.00
The alteration fee will not be charged if your alteration request is not possible.
Vehicle Capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.
Refund Policy
We are committed to providing a quality service and aim for complete customer satisfaction. In the event of cancellation, any refunds or penalties are detailed in the terms and conditions of your selected vehicle that you are asked to read and accept at time of booking. In the event you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.

Our fleet consists of several different types in each class and our website is only intended to illustrate the general layout, it may vary from type to type and our brochure/website does not form the basis of a contract. Every vehicle will have the equipment stated however.
Our fuel policy is for the vehicle to leave our pick up location with a full fuel tank of diesel and be returned with a full tank. If the vehicle is not returned, a charge of £2.00 per litre will be charged.

The rates on this website are often heavily discounted. This is due to our negotiated rates and bulk buying power. On very rare occasions, a rate may be displayed incorrectly due to our, or a vehicle supplier's error. In such a case, if you book with us at a quoted rate that is incorrect, we will notify you of any price change and give you the option to proceed or cancel. We make every effort to keep information on our site up to date, but we cannot guarantee this website is free of errors or omissions and retain the right to update or change the information published at any time.
Liability
To the extent permitted by law we/the owners of this website will not be liable to you or to any third party (whether in contract, tort, or otherwise) for any direct, indirect or consequential loss or damage (including but not limited to any accident, injury, delay or loss of enjoyment) arising out of your reliance upon information contained on this website, including but not limited to your use (or inability to use) any products or services described or procured through this website.
When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. Your rental and use of the vehicle will be governed by the terms of the rental agreement and any other documentation or information provided to you by the supplier at the time you pick up your vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier’s rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.
While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.
Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice. The deposit required to secure your vehicle (as shown on the secure booking page) will only be processed on your credit card when your booking is confirmed. Please note that a 1.75% credit card charge will be added when your payment is processed.
A booking is confirmed when you have been emailed a confirmation voucher and at this stage the deposit is processed on your card and becomes non-refundable and any cancellation fees stated in the supplier's terms apply. Upon receipt of your confirmation, please check your details carefully and notify us immediately if there are any incorrect details, as it may not be possible to make changes at a later date.
If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.
Amendments
Please note that some suppliers treat an amendment as a new booking and apply the rate current at the time the amendment is made to recalculate the entire booking amount (not just the days changed). If the rental period is increased, an additional deposit may be required. If the rental period is shortened which results in a reduction of the rental charges, the deposit amount will remain unchanged, and the difference between the original and revised deposit is forfeited (it cannot be used towards remaining rental charges). To request a change to a confirmed booking, please use the alterations request link on your confirmation. Any alterations are subject to availability and the approval of the supplier. In addition to the alteration policy of the supplier stated in their terms, the following charges will apply:
Motorhome rental alterations (all charges stated in local currency):
To change dates or times that result in a recalculation of rental rates, or to change vehicles or locations: 75.00
To add or remove extras to/from confirmed booking: 20.00
The alteration fee will not be charged if your alteration request is not possible.
Vehicle Capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.
Refund Policy
We are committed to providing a quality service and aim for complete customer satisfaction. In the event of cancellation, any refunds or penalties are detailed in the terms and conditions of your selected vehicle that you are asked to read and accept at time of booking. In the event you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.

LIMITED LIABILITY INSURANCE(LLI) / EXCESS
Our hire fee includes vehicle insurance, for British mainland travel only. The (LLI) limits the EXCESS liability in the event of accidental damage of the vehicle to a non-waivable £ 1000 per claim. It however will not limit liability in the case of damage above cab height and roof damage caused by striking an overhead object is classed as negligent and is subject to an excess of up to £2000 per claim.

DAMAGE DEPOSIT BOND
A damage deposit of £1,000.00 is required at the start of the hire to cover any damages or expenses against the vehicle not covered by insurance. This deposit must take the form of cash, signed travellers cheques or an authorised credit card slip. This deposit is fully refunded on the return of the vehicle in satisfactory condition. All clients travelling from mainland Britain to Europe must have adequate Personal Accident Insurance at the start of the hire to cover the full period abroad. Evidence of such will be required before the hire can commence.
EUROPEAN RECOVERY INSURANCE (ERI)
ERI is mandatory for all vehicles during the period they will be travelling outside mainland Britain. This provides a bail bond for Spain, Green Card and for the supply of a replacement vehicle or the repatriation to our depot of the passengers in the event of mechanical malfunction or accident. The supply of a replacement vehicle is subject to availability. In case of accident a further ERI premium is required; whoever is responsible for the accident. ERI is charged at the rate of £140.00 for the first 2 weeks and at the rate of £40.00 per week thereafter. ERI is required in mainland Europe, Eire, Northern Ireland and all offshore islands. The rates above only cover countries in the European Community, Scandinavia, Switzerland and Austria. Please advise in good time if you intend to visit Eastern European countries or North Africa.
